Illegal Aliens Are Not Immigrants!
It seems there is a major delusion which is running rampant in this country and is being propagated for political purposes.
Unthinking people are beginning to believe that If they hear something often enough which is not true or factual that it somehow becomes true.
Here is a fact: “Illegal Alien” is defined as
1. a foreigner who has entered or resides in a country unlawfully or without the country's authorization.
2. a foreigner who enters the U.S. without an entry or immigrant visa, especially a person who crosses the border by avoiding inspection or who overstays the period of time allowed as a visitor, tourist, or businessperson.
No matter how many times you call them immigrants or undocumented immigrants it does not change the fact that they are illegal aliens!
People argue that the term illegal alien is offensive and has pejorative connotations. I totally agree….but it is completely appropriate.
Drug dealer, child molester, murderer, wife beater, rapist all have perjorative connotations and drug dealers, child molesters, murderers, wife beaters, and rapists all take offense when you call them by their actions. That doesn't change who they are.
An excerpt from one of my favorite poets (ME!!) in a poem about deteriorating values said it very well. The poem titled “Back Then” dealt with a number of changes in our society including the lack of enforcement of our nation's soverignity. Here is the excerpt*
...Illegal’s threaten and demand.
I for one don’t understand,
why it is, that we fail to prosecute.
They cross our borders every day
to work, but we alone will pay
more taxes, while our services they loot.
Invasion or encroachment?
Either one will steal our land.
What is it about “illegal”
politicians don’t understand?
If breaking laws will change them,
what’s a legislature for?
Mayhem and chaos lurk outside,
and these fools throw wide the door!...
